Recommended New digital camera?

I’m planning to get a Canon or Nikon…Although my budget is somewhere between $0-400MAX…depending on what price I can sell my Kodak P850 for.
Any good cameras out there you may recommend?
I want a kind like what my P850 was like almost, I guess..or better
